Hi! I’m Mica, the owner of the micasho website!
My passion is calligraphy and I have trained for many years under some of Japan’s most prestigious artists. I live, and practice this historic art style, in the beautiful prefecture of Hokkaido. Famed for its powder snow and amazing food such as sushi, ramen and Jingisukan (grilled lamb).
In the autumn of 2021, Japan was set to designate Japanese Calligraphy and traditional sake brewing as the country’s registered Intangible Culture Properties. Since then, I have been thinking about the best way I could introduce these fascinating aspects of Japanese culture to others. It prompted me to create this website!
You can learn more about Japan (especially Hokkaido) through this website and my blogs. I will tell you about Japanese calligraphy, Japanese culture and delicious regional Japanese dishes. I hope I can inspire you to visit Japan and enjoy everything it has to offer!
